First Aid at Nosebleed




Nosebleed can be caused by several things, such as a blow on the nose, irritation of mucous membranes in the nose for trying to eject something over and over from the nasal cavity, or due to infection.

According to Stanley M. Zildo as quoted from his book 'First Aid, How to Properly Handling First Aid and Emergency', Most nosebleeds that occur in children are not dangerous. But when it happens to a parent or adult, it can be serious and require medical attention.

When to see a bloody nose or a nosebleed, do the following:

1. Ask the victim to sit up with the body leaning forward. Keep your mouth to keep it open so that blood does not close the airway.

2. Pinch the nose for 15 minutes. Press down on the edges nose, slowly release.

3. Do not let the victim melesitkan snot. If bleeding continues, pinch the nose again for 5 minutes and make sure the victim does not swallow the blood coming out.

4. Take a damp cloth or ice wrapped in a cloth. Glue on the nose and face of the victim to narrow blood vessels.

5. If the bleeding continues and no indication of a fracture, immediately take it to the emergency care unit.
