First Aid For Bruises



Bruising is common and injuries suffered by a person. This happens for several reasons such as falls or blows to the body are affected causing some broken blood vessels beneath the skin's surface. Discoloration and swelling of the skin caused by the seepage of blood into the tissues.

According to Stanley M. Zildo as quoted from his book 'First Aid, How to Properly Handling First Aid and Emergency', the symptoms of the affected bruises are pain, redness and changes color to blue or green, sometimes arising swelling or lumps.

Bruises usually heal by itself. Nevertheless, some things need to be done in order to heal bruises faster, namely:

1. As soon as possible compressed using cold water or ice to bruised areas to reduce bleeding and swelling.

2. If bruising occurs in the arms or legs, lift the section with a higher position of the heart to reduce local blood flow.

3. After 24 hours, use warm compresses to help wound healing. Kompresan warm so it will open up blood vessels improving blood circulation to the area.

4. If the bruise is severe or swelling with pain unbearable, immediately brought to the hospital due to possible broken bones or other injuries.
